Used Epson 5020ub or new 2100?

Hi all, have a couple options I am looking at for projectors currently.

I'm in Canada, so a new 2100 is on sale right now for 850+tax. About 970 all in.

On Kijiji right now there is a used 5020ub with a new bulb going for 400, all in.

Am I better off going with a cheaper series new like the 2100, or higher end but older with the 5020ub?

Thoughts?
Thanks!

Jeff

5020 all the way, as the brightness isn't much different, but the contrast and black levels are far superior on the 5020. Even if you have a room without sufficient light control, you'll still appreciate better blacks as soon as the lights go down. If the 2100 was a light cannon, I'd ask about your room setup and how you'll use the projector (gaming, movies, tv).

PS: I've used cheaper aftermarket bulbs on this projector with great success. My first 2 Epson bulbs lasted 800-1200 hours apiece before blowing, but the cheapo one I got on eBay is on 3300 hours.

You can use the 5020 for a few years until 4K is better/cheaper and content catches up.

Thanks for your reply!

Reading through the 5020 thread I see alot of people complaining about problems with this pj. Is this common, or is it just a case of people with problems posting, and people with no problems enjoying their toys?

This unit has a brand new bulb installed, but about 1500hrs on the phone itself. If everything looks right, do I need to be worried about it kicking the bucket or is there a good chance of it still lasting 5000 more hours?

Can you test it before buying? Does it at least have good photos of the projected image?

That low price is suspicious.
